This week the offering will go towards relief work in Haiti. If you haven't given to the relief effort yet, please consider bringing a contribution on Sunday. Regarding the issue of Human Trafficking, please read this article: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/201001u/haiti-trafficking about the increased danger for the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. |

Human Trafficking--it's hard to imagine that such a term exists today. It's even more difficult to consider that there are 27 million people in this world experiencing modern day slavery, many of them women and children, and over 14,500 being brought into the United States.* For the last few weeks, and throughout the month of February, the offerings given at Christ on Campus will be going to the organization Not For Sale (http://www.notforsalecampaign.org/). Specifically, a past student is interning with the organization, and we are helping her to be able to work with them. Here's a little about Not For Sale from their website: "The Not For Sale Campaign equips and mobilizes Smart Activists to deploy innovative solutions to re-abolish slavery in their own backyards and across the globe. Together, we can end slavery in our lifetime."
We'll be focusing on the issue of Human Trafficking, as well as the overall issue of Social Justice at Celebration on February 21st. Stay tuned for more information and for more things to come highlighting issues of Social Justice. *Info from freetheslaves.net:
